Mathematics Laboratory
The world would come to a standstill without the use of Maths. It is an indispensible part of our lives. In spite of the subject being so important, it accounts for the maximum number of failure and a high degree of maths phobia; thus resulting in a poor attitude towards maths. The reason lies more with the way the subject is presented and less with the child's aptitude.
In order to facilitate the children in comprehending certain abstract concepts and to transform this fundamental subject into an interesting learning experience; it is desirable that it should be brought to concrete operational level where children can check and verify the validity of the concept through activities. This is what we are doing through setting up the Maths Lab in the School.
The Maths lab is well equipped with basic models to verify various concepts and theorems in maths. Children work in groups and are provided with small working units. They discover various concepts and facts by themselves, thus giving them a feel of maths. The creativity of the students is allowed free play. They are encouraged to find alternative solutions and alternative methods. Teachers and students work as joint investigating teams.
The lab is also equipped with computers to use technology for learning. Children see and prepare various power point presentations related to maths. They connect Maths with other subjects thus developing interdisciplinary thinking.
